Helsinki IFK’s losing streak in the hockey SM league increased to five games. Ilves head coach Antti Pennanen described his first weeks as interesting.
Tampere Ilves broke their four-game losing streak in the hockey SM league by beating HIFK 5–2 at Nordenskiöldinkatu. The people from Helsinki were relegated to the SM league jumbo, as SaiPa beat Pori Ässät 5–1 in their own match.
HIFK got off to a great start in the opening set, when Roni Hirvonen directed the stroke by Marek Langhamer behind the back.
After that, the people from Helsinki were subjected to a barrage of direct attacks, as Ilves scored four goals from direct attacks in the match.
Ilves’ hero was Petri Kontiola, who started and ended Tampere’s scoring. Striker Joona Ikonen initially three hits.
Ilves also succeeded in finishing Tommi Tikka, Les Lancaster and Matias Mantykivi.
HIFK’s pain in finishing was visible again. According to the statistics, HIFK shot a total of 78 times, while Ilves had 29 shots.
– We fell to individual mistakes. There’s nothing wrong with playing as a team. Three real babies. Added to that ineffective superiority, Ville Peltonen upset Urheilu.
– The appearance of the game faltered in the fifth goal. Until then it was good and we came to work. That’s not enough. We need to get more out of the top players.
The pain of superiority continued. Were the shots of sufficient quality?
– Were not. That was clear.
What caused it?
– It’s because of the shots and the fact that there is a bit of a delay. Exactly the same things.
HIFK plays next on Saturday in Hämeenlinna as a guest of HPK.
– You really have to take energy by looking in the mirror. This kind of anger is perhaps sometimes a good source of energy, Peltonen stated.
Despite the fireworks, questions arose around Ilves before the fight, the head coach Antti Pennanen through an interview. The chief commander, who started his position three weeks ago, described the weeks as interesting for C More.
– A lot of new things, a lot of new information and a lot of things have come as a surprise. We have lived with them and tried to adapt to them, Pennanen stated at the beginning of the interview.
Pennanen stated that there are uncertainty factors behind the team anyway. He also said that there has been a discussion with the team about the fact that the result is starting to control the results of the players too much.
According to Pennanen, he hasn’t made any drastic changes to the team’s game yet. He described his role as a “work supervisor”.
– More than that, there has been thought about how to make the environment safe. If it is said that the role of the supervisor has been the role that it has been. Of course, some small things along with that, but more to support the players at this point, Pennanen formulated.
Pennanen also spoke about safety to after the match. You can watch the comments in the following video.
After the match, asked Pennase what he meant by safety. He cracked it just a little bit.
– Mainly the fact that everyone experiences it in their own way. However, the ideal situation is that there is security. It is always the sum of many things that it is born there. The players in that booth have had a good mood and a good feeling. I’m not going to open them anymore, Pennanen formulated.
What would you do to increase security?
– Of course, that we can be like that when we are and in every part of the organization. How we speak, behave and do. Then, of course, as with children, there must be limits and frameworks. After all, it mainly consists of those, Pennanen continued.
Ville Pelto and Antti Penna were interviewed by Mikko Lehessaari.
