Today’s news has read a letter that party leader Johan Pehrson sent to leading representatives within Renew Europe after the meeting. Pehrson promises that the party will not put forward a government in which the SD is included – or put itself in a government with the Sweden Democrats.
“Given the election results, and the choices other parties have made, the only way to secure a majority together with the Moderates and the Christian Democrats is to come to an agreement with the Sweden Democrats. It won’t be easy,” writes Pehrson and continues:
“The Sweden Democrats, with their nationalist and populist agenda, are our main opponent… We liberals have clear red lines for what compromises can be made to form a coalition.”
