Sedentary lifestyle: Public Health France has the recipe to get teens moving

Sedentary lifestyle Public Health France has the recipe to get

Santé publique France is today launching a campaign to encourage parents to encourage teenagers to move more on a daily basis.

“Getting teenagers moving is not easy. But encouraging them is important.” This is the slogan of the campaign launched by Public Health France to encourage parents to encourage their teenagers to move more every day and limit their sedentary lifestyle.

“Parents hold a crucial lever for promoting physical activity in children and adolescents. Parents are first and foremost a model for the child who will be able to reproduce their behavior in a form of mimicry. Beyond this role As a model, parents can provide different types of support, whether it is registration for physical activities or transport to the place of practice” underlines Public Health France.

First step: we alert the parents

It is in this context that the health authorities will broadcast from today and for 1 month, a campaign “intended for parents with the aim of promoting parental support and helping parents to encourage their teenagers to practice more physical activity.” A short film will be broadcast on television, on the internet and in cinemas. This film deals with the daily life of parents who may encounter difficulties in encouraging adolescents to move more and aims to highlight the efforts of parents and help them not to be discouraged.

Doing physical activity obviously means practicing a sport, whether collective or individual. But it can also involve practicing a daily outdoor activity such as walking, cycling, scootering, skateboarding or rollerblading to go to class or see friends, go out to walk the dog or even prefer stairs to elevator. The film also invites parents to visit the mangerbouger.fr website where they will find a test allowing them to assess the sedentary and inactive level of their teenagers.

Second step: we offer challenges to teenagers

Secondly, a campaign aimed at teenagers will be launched in October and November. Every day on the Snapchat account @EnModeDeter, created especially for the campaign, teens will discover a humorous challenge of physical activity to take up, alone or with friends. The form and duration of the challenges will be varied, in order to make teens want to be more active while having fun.

“In addition, once a week, a personality appreciated by teenagers will launch the challenge of the week on Snapchat and Tiktok. This is a contest that will allow you to win a sporting or cultural activity” announces Public Health France.
