The vaccination clinics in Västerbotten will reopen on September 1. They then start by offering people over 75 and for those who live in nursing homes, a fifth dose.
Then you work your way down in age and within a few weeks you should be able to offer everyone over 18 to take a fourth injection.
The spread of covid-19 has increased during the summer. However, the number of patients treated for covid-19 has not been a major problem in Västerbotten.
“We call it the autumn dose”
Vaccine coordinator Ronny Lestander is concerned that interest in getting vaccinated has waned as vaccination does not protect against disease, but believes that it is important as it provides protection against serious disease.
– There are people under 65 who still haven’t taken their third dose and also people over 65 who haven’t taken their fourth. That is why it is called the “autumn dose”. But we will probably need to top up every spring and autumn. It depends on how the virus develops and how sick we get, says Ronny Lestander, vaccine coordinator.
