Ontario reported 3,784 new cases of COVID-19 on Monday and 152 patients in intensive care due to the virus, but no additional deaths.

About 10.5 million more Ontario adults became eligible to book a COVID-19 vaccine booster dose as the province tries to get ahead of the spreading Omicron variant.

Residents 18 and older can make an appointment for a booster 84 days after their second dose.

“We are pleased to see so many people embrace the opportunity to ensure strong protection against the Omicron variant with over 125,000 appointments booked through the provincial booking system as of 10 am today,” Alexandra Hilkene, a spokesperson for Health Minister Christine Elliott, said in a statement Monday.

“This does not include the thousands of appointments booked through other channels that are using their own booking systems, such as certain public health units, pharmacies, primary care and hospitals.”
