69-year-old mom comes back to Destiny 2 after years, is completely at a loss, gets touching help from guardians

Leksand extended the winning streak beat AIK

A 69-year-old Guardian struggles to navigate Destiny 2. After speaking out about her insecurities on Reddit, the other Guardians are on the spot. The community provides numerous tips and hints to make it easier for the returnee to get back on board.

Live service Games that are actively developed over several years accumulate a lot of content. This also applies to Destiny 2. Bungie develops new expansions for the loot shooter every year, which bring new campaigns, new locations and class changes.

For beginners and returnees, it can be quite difficult to keep track of things. There is a lot of content and on top of that there are tasks to be done on a daily or weekly basis.

How well do you really know Destiny 2? – The ultimate challenge for any Guardian

A 69-year-old guardian has now dared to jump in at the deep end. But with the sheer amount of new content, she quickly lost track and asked for help on Reddit. The reaction from the community is touching, with many Guardians immediately providing advice and support.

With “Lightfall” there is a lot of new content for Destiny 2. You can find an overview of it here in the video:

Guardian asks for advice on Reddit, and the Destiny community is quick to respond

The guardian with the Reddit username u/schragae wrote a post entitled “An old lady says hello” (via reddit.com). There she described her situation in detail. Back then, in 2019, she still played a lot of Destiny. But then her father died and she lost interest.

Her son was apparently able to convince her to give the loot shooter another chance. She tried Shadowkeep and immediately got hooked again. Nevertheless, she has many questions that many other returnees are likely to ask themselves: What weapons should I use? How do I find good gear and what resources should I farm?

The community then shares many tips and tricks, some keepers refer to specific YouTube guides or websites.

My condolences about your father. My wife and I also lost a family member in the last year.

Do things you enjoy! Sometimes it is enough to look for your own challenges. The sense of accomplishment is worth it. But you can just as easily explore the area and enjoy the music. Or you can slaughter anything that moves!

It is important that you choose skills and weapons that you enjoy. I’m not very good with handguns or snipers, so I rarely use them… Sometimes I try to practice, but most of the time I just use the guns I’m good with. Everyone has their own favourites.

Other guardians also offer to play with the 69-year-old. u/schragae is positively surprised by how many senior Destiny players are contacting her.

I’m also an older lady (65) and often play with people who are all over 50. You can call me in game by that name […] find. I’ve been playing on Xbox since Destiny 1 day 1 and I love this game.

There are a lot of warm-hearted comments under her post. The guardians encourage the 69-year-old to stay on the ball and are happy that she is part of the community.

What do you think of the community reaction? Has anything similar happened to you in Destiny 2 or any other game? We would be happy to receive your comments!
