Charlotte Kalla is one of Swedish sports’ great heroes.

The really big international breakthrough came in 2008 when Charlotte Kalla surprised everyone and won the overall victory in the Tour de Ski. An unforgettable sporting performance that launched an unparalleled skiing career.

Called career

Since then, the Swede from Tärendö has offered the Swedish people many fantastic sporting moments over the years. She has won a whole bunch of Olympic, WC and SM gold during the fantastic career that ended last year.

Since then we have been able to follow Charlotte every week in the TV4 program “Let’s Dance” where she went all the way to the final and finished in second place. Charlotte’s family

• Charlotte Kalla is the oldest sister of three in the Kalla family from Norrbotten and all the children’s names start with the letter c. The parents Per-Erik Kalla and Lena Kalla got the daughters Christelle Kallaborn in 1991, Cecilia Kallaborn in 1989, and Charlotte, born in 1987.

• Cross-country skiing wasn’t actually her first sport. Except it was basketball at a young age but she wasn’t very good at it.
– No, really not! I was more of a bundle of energy that was everywhere and nowhere. My strength was fitness, I had no talent for balls, she has said in an interview with Radiosporten.

Different nicknames

• Charlotte has two different nicknames, one that only the family uses and another that is used in skiing.
– At home in Tärendö among my relatives I am usually called “Lotta”. In the team, I’m often called “CK”, so it’s a little different depending on where I am, in what context, she said in an interview back in 2017.

• She has had perhaps the most unexpected animal as a pet while growing up in the childhood home.
– I’ve had rats. It was my younger sisters who wanted it for Christmas. So on Christmas Eve morning there was a cage with three roosters, mother thought. But there were three pregnant females! So there were a lot of rats there for a while, Charlotte has admitted.

• Charlotte Kalla made history in the context of Let’s Dance during this year’s participation in the TV4 program. When she became the first participant ever to compete as pregnant, neither in Sweden nor in any other international edition has it happened before.
