36 wolves in six different areas had to be killed – when this year’s hunt is now over, 35 animals have been shot, ATL reports.
An overshoot has occurred, while two wolves remain to be killed, one in Värmland and one in Södermanland.
Alongside this year’s hunt, the annual inventory of the Swedish-Norwegian wolf tribe has been underway and will continue until the end of March. So far, 51 areas have been secured, according to the latest update.
– It is still difficult to say how many wolves we have in Sweden, but there is nothing to indicate any dramatic changes, says Jens Frank at SLU’s Wildlife Damage Center to ATL.
Last year’s inventory determined that there are 450 wolves in Sweden.
