25-year-old Greek died at Northvolt in Skellefteå: “Beloved colleague”

25 year old Greek died at Northvolt in Skelleftea Beloved colleague

A 25-year-old Greek national died overnight Friday from injuries he sustained in November at Northvolt’s battery factory.

The man’s landlord in Skellefteå, Gora Dangoura, is distressed:

– It’s so hard to talk about him because he was such a nice guy.

The 25-year-old died on the night of Friday, after he was injured at Northvolt’s battery factory in Skellefteå on November 4. The man was badly burned in connection with an explosion in a cleaning machine.

After the accident, he was taken to Norrland University Hospital. Despite intensive care and intensive care for several weeks, his life could not be saved. The 25-year-old died on the night of Friday.

The man was a trained engineer and worked as an environmental engineer in Greece, before he came to Skellefteå this summer. The 25-year-old was registered in Sweden in June, and started working at Northvolt.

About three months ago, he moved in with Gora Dangoura, who shared an apartment with the 25-year-old, but himself mostly lived in his girlfriend’s apartment.

– He was very calm, kind and caring. He was very social and had good values. We talked about everything, Gora says, adding:

– Both me, my girlfriend Camilla and our two daughters are very sorry for what happened. He was a very nice person.

Joking with the daughter

The youngest in the family, 2-year-old Fatima, liked the 25-year-old very much. He often pranked her and joked about Greta Gris, her favorite show.

The 25-year-old himself was a curious nature, according to Gora. Both men spoke English and French to each other:

– He taught me everything possible about Greek culture, about olive oil and much more. Sometimes we had conversations about colonialism in Africa. We had such nice discussions with each other, says Gora.

The 25-year-old’s ingenuity showed when he often asked question after question about everything possible, “why do you say this in Swedish, how is the average Svensson”:

– He was curious in a nice way, constantly asking me questions about things he didn’t understand, says Gora.

When the 25-year-old thought that “Greeks are more social than Swedes”, Gora explained that “Swedes are not unpleasant – they are waiting – and when they get to know you, they become the nicest people in the world”.

The environment was important to the 25-year-old, who often walked a mile track in the forest near the apartment, and sometimes cycled down to the center where he drank coffee with his Greek friends in a cafe.

– He took the bus to work, and thought about his relationship with nature and about recycling.

When the 25-year-old was burned and taken to Norrland University Hospital, Gora thought he would be fine and come back:

– I thought about him all the time, and prayed for him. I wrote many messages to his WhatsApp but never got any replies.

“Got chocked”

On Friday, when the 25-year-old had died, Gora didn’t know about it at first:

– When I got home, I found my girl Camilla on the floor. She sat there and cried. When she told me he had passed away I was shocked. I still haven’t recovered. It feels so hard that this nice guy with whom I shared an apartment has died, says Gora.

Gora remembers how the 25-year-old had always shoveled away the snow outside the apartment when he got there, and how much the 25-year-old longed for the January cold:

– He was looking forward to winter being exciting. But it turned out as it did, says Gora sadly.

The 25-year-old was also highly appreciated at his workplace Northvolt:

– Our beloved colleague who was treated in hospital after the accident at the beginning of November has unfortunately passed away, said Fredrik Hedlund, responsible for Northvolt’s factories, to Aftonbladet on Friday.

On Thursday, a man in his 60s also died after a workplace accident at Northvolt. He was employed by NCC, and suffered crushing and crushing injuries in connection with a construction project at the factory. Another employee was injured in the incident.
