Expectations were correspondingly high when the Wachowskis announced a new mega-project: Jupiter Ascending. It should cost over $200 million (according to Deadline). Start of a new film series arise. Just like the Matrix films, the Wachowskis go all in and get lost gigantic sci-fi panoramas, an epic story and lots of strange characters. First and foremost is Channing Tatum as a space warrior with pointed ears, tattoos and dyed blonde hair who hops through the air in flying shoes.
It’s too bad that Warner Bros. turned away from the newly created brand after the disappointing box office numbers. Jupiter Ascending brings everything to become a major sci-fi seriesfrom the unleashed adventure character of the Star Wars films to the power games and intrigue that accompany us in the Dune saga.
