8:26 PM: No water in Woerden and surrounding villages
Households in Woerden and the surrounding villages have been hit by a water outage. A spokesperson for Vitens confirmed this. The complaints range from no water at all to reduced water pressure.
7:24 PM: Public Prosecution Service demands 2 years in prison and TBS after knife attack in Nieuwegein
The Public Prosecution Service is demanding a two-year prison sentence and compulsory psychiatric treatment for a seriously confused woman from Zeist who attacked visitors to the GP post at the Sint Antonius Hospital in Nieuwegein with a pocket knife a year ago.
7:21 PM: No solution for Vathorst nuisance
This weekend, a group of young people caused a lot of nuisance in the Amersfoort district of Vathorst. The government wants measures so that residents feel safe in their own district again. But the municipality does not yet have a solution.
4:38 PM: 12 years in prison after collision
A man who deliberately ran over a 73-year-old woman in Soest last year has been sentenced to 12 years in prison for attempted murder. This was decided by the Central Netherlands court this afternoon.
3:01 PM: Leusden resident drove through red lights twice
A motorist who hit a cyclist in the centre of Amersfoort in December was driving more than twice as fast as the speed limit at the time and went through red lights at two consecutive intersections. In addition, the 38-year-old man from Leusden had drunk far too much. The woman on the bike was seriously injured to her head and lower body.
2:58 PM: Prison sentence for 37-year-old Tarik El M.
Tarik El M., 37, has been sentenced to four years in prison and TBS with compulsory treatment for three attempted manslaughter. At the end of last year, he stabbed three young women on Balijelaan in their necks and throats with scissors. The Public Prosecution Service had demanded a sentence of nine years.
10:45 am: 4 suspects arrested for scams
The police have arrested four suspects from the municipality of Ronde Venen for chat tricks. Earlier, a business premises was closed because there was a call centre that was defrauding people. The four suspects did this by means of telephone chat tricks.
Laptops and phones were found in the business premises, which were used to defraud victims. A firearm was also found in the premises. After extensive investigation, four men aged 19, 22, 25 and 27 from Ronde Venen were eventually arrested.
09:45 am: Drug shipment discovered
The police intercepted a drug transport with more than 100 kilos of narcotics on Friday. The drugs were found in a hidden space in a camper in Slootdorp (North Holland). Nine suspects were arrested, some of whom come from Vinkeveen. The arrests led to the discovery of a drug transport line between the Netherlands and England.
07.30 am: Car accident on the A12 near Harmelen
There was a car accident on the A12 this morning. It happened near Harmelen. The left lane was closed for a short time, which meant that motorists could expect a delay of at least half an hour around 07:30. The traffic jam has now cleared and the A12 is moving again. According to the ANWB, the car overturned. It is not known how the accident could have happened.
06:40: 2 men arrested in burglary
The police arrested two men last night during a break-in at a company on Gietijzerstraat on the Utrecht business park Cartesiusweg. The police reported this on Instagram. When officers arrived at the building, they saw two people quickly cycling away. One man was arrested immediately, he had a stolen computer with him.
The second suspect was arrested later. He escaped earlier when the police arrested his fellow burglar. Because the police were watching the burglars’ car, he was arrested half an hour later when he arrived there.
Several burglary tools were found in the car. CCTV footage from the company shows that the two suspects did indeed break into the building.
06.25 am: House fire in Maarssenbroek
In Maarssenbroek, a fire broke out last night around 23:45 in a terraced house on the Zwanenkamp. The fire brigade responded to the fire with multiple fire engines. One person was rescued from the house by the fire brigade.
06.02 am: Explosion at Groenekan house
An explosion occurred at a house on the Koningin Wilhelminaweg in Groenekan last night around 21:10. According to the police, no one was injured, but the house was damaged. The house next door and a parked car were also damaged.
