Grasshoppers have two ways of making their sound heard: rubbing with their wings or rasping with their legs. Incidentally, that sound has no more function than to impress the opposite sex. “It’s a bit like us dancing”, Courbois explains, “here I am, look at me, I’m a very interesting man for your eggs”.
