Now the emotional post is spreading when the Swede speaks straight from the heart to his friend with cancer.
– I love you, my friend, says “Ibra” in a beautiful video from ESPN.
He was only 19 years old when he left the safety of Malmö to make the big move abroad to the big club Ajax in Amsterdam. It was then that Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s successful football career started in earnest.

Since then, the two have kept in touch and Zlatan also wrote about Slegers in his autobiography “I am Zlatan”. Today, the Dutchman is 46 years old and press manager for PSV Eindhoven, but he recently suffered from incurable leukemia.

– I will always remember it. He is my only friend from Holland. I was young and lost, confused. I had no one in Holland, then this journalist came and extended a hand. At that time, the journalists were not my friends, they were my enemies, Ibra told ESPN.
– We met and ate together and after that we became good friends. We played tennis, he helped me a lot and gave me the support I needed. I wrote about him and all this in my book, I am very grateful for everything and we are still in touch.
