Now Zlatan Ibrahimovic gives his view on today’s edition of Blågult – and its new national team captain.
– With the new coach and the new generation, mixed with some more experienced players, you have to be patient, he tells Sportbladet.
With his 62 goals for the national team is Zlatan Ibrahimovic43, Sweden’s best goalscorer of all time. He not only scored many goals, but also spectacular goals. He made his last international match against Belgium in the 2023 European Championship qualifiers and nowadays he is just an enthusiastic spectator.
Zlatan’s new role in Milan
After ending his own playing career, Zlatan has remained at AC Milan, the club he belonged to during two different stays. He has been given the somewhat vague role of advisor to the sporting management. Some have questioned what he is actually doing and others think he has been absent for parts of the season. He himself thinks that he has learned a lot in a short time, especially about things that happen outside the football field.

In addition, he thinks it is very fun to try out a different role in football. What is the best thing about the new job then?
– That I see football from a completely different angle. It is much more than just football and it is about everything else outside of football. You learn, study and observe and build it up. There is a lot to take in. It was easier before. It was just out to play football, so I solved it on the field, he tells Sportbladet.
Ibrahimovic’s opinion on the national team
In addition to having a firm grasp of the Italian Serie A and all its players on behalf of Milan, Zlatan still has a very good grasp of the Swedish national team. It was actually not too long ago that he himself quit Blågult, but a lot has happened. Among other things have Jan Andersson left and replaced by Jon Dahl Tomasson.
– With the new coach and the new generation, mixed with some more experienced players, you have to be patient. The most important thing is that (Jon Dahl) Tomasson does not stray from his identity and his vision, what he wants to get into the national team. He should just keep going. The downside is that he only has a week to get his idea out to 22-25 players and everything has to be “wow”, he tells the evening newspaper.

He thinks that in a way it might have been useful for Sweden to slip down a step in the ranking when it comes to the Nations League. It gives Tomasson more peace and quiet to adapt to his new team, get to know his new players and dare to try new tactics.
– Is it perhaps good to be in the Nations League’s C division? It gives him (Tomasson) more time to experiment, do his thing and test new players. It’s not pretty when you meet teams like France, Spain and Italy for new players. Then they might be nervous and not find the right one right away. There is a lot to be put together, he says.
