Ahead of the Champions League match against Liverpool, Zlatan Ibrahimovic was asked several questions about his new role at AC Milan.
At one point, he got really angry at Viaplay’s reporter Jennifer Kücükaslan who asked if he was being paid well in his new position.
– Money? So I need money?, he said in Viaplay’s broadcast.
For the first time ever was Zlatan Ibrahimovic42, in place during a Champions League night in the guise of advisers and not players. At the beginning of the year, he was given a leading role in Milan’s sporting management – but it has so far been quite unclear what exactly he does.
Has a leading role
At the beginning of the summer, Paolo Fonseca took over as the new Milan coach and Zlatan took the opportunity to make his first media appearance for the club in his role as an advisor. It was actually he who introduced Fonseca to the assembled press corps.
– I understand that many people have questions. My role is simple. I work close to Redbird, I am responsible for Milan. It is not a “one man show”, everyone is important. Even if it’s quiet, we’re working, we’re not a podcast, we’re not a talk show, he said in June at a press conference.
– I have only been in my new role for six months but have already started getting gray hairs, we are working hard.
Zlatan on the role: “I’m the boss”
On Tuesday, this year’s Champions League season began and AC Milan started at home at San Siro against Liverpool. Zlatan was interviewed by Viaplay before the match and he was also asked several questions about the work he does for the club.
– Everyone is talking about the role. I am the boss and the rest work for me, he said.
When Viaplay’s reporter Jennifer Kücükaslan asked him why he chose to take on the role of advisor at the club, he simply said that he received “an offer he couldn’t refuse”. However, he got really angry when she in turn asked if it was about money. The former national team player did not like that at all.

– Money? So I need money?, he asked her annoyed.
When she backed down and said that he didn’t “need money”, he just said briefly: “Yes, but the offer can be without money too…”.
This feels so classic Zlatan somehow. Say what you will about his behavior, but he is undeniably a big profile that Milan can probably benefit from in several ways even after his playing career.
