– Allow me to present Ukraine’s candidacy for the World Expo 2030. I present Odessa – and the entire Black Sea region.

These are the opening words of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyi in Tuesday evening’s speech.

He says that this year Ukraine has become the world’s model of bravery. Furthermore, Zelenskyy says that people have seen that Russia will not achieve its goals – and in time they will see how Ukraine becomes a model for reconstruction as well.

– The reconstruction of our country will be the most significant economic, technological and humanitarian project of our time.

According to Zelenskyy, there is already a system of reconstruction that other countries and companies can participate in that “will not only rebuild, but show that a free world and conscious countries are always stronger than any tyrant.”

He also emphasizes that the World’s Fair has never been organized in Eastern Europe.

– We should change that. And Odessa is the perfect place to do it, notes the Ukrainian president, saying the city may be hosting the World Expo for the first time – but has been connected to the world for centuries.
