Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is in Sweden, he announces on social media.
“Olena and I have arrived in Sweden,” Zelensky writes.
During the day, there will be talks with the Swedish Prime Minister, the royal family and the parties in the Riksdag, as well as the Speaker of the Riksdag Andreas Norlén.
The talks will be about partnership, defense cooperation, EU integration and joint Euro-Atlantic security, Zelensky writes on X, formerly Twitter, and adds that he and his wife “thank all Swedes who support Ukraine”.
The government writes in a press release that the meeting on Saturday will take place at the invitation of Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson (M).
“The president first arrives in Harpsund. During the day, discussions take place with the government. In addition, there are meetings with the Speaker, the Commander-in-Chief and the Riksdag’s party leader,” the government office writes in a press release.
“The focus during the meetings is on the situation in Ukraine and Sweden’s continued strong commitment and support to Ukraine.”
Later, King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia will receive Volodymyr Zelenskyj and his wife Olena Zelenska at Stenhammar Castle.
