He also said that he sees the shift in focus as one of Russia’s goals, while claiming that Ukraine has been overshadowed in the past:
– We have been in very difficult situations where there was very little focus on Ukraine. But we got through it, and I’m sure we will overcome this challenge as well, he said, according to the Ukrainian public service company Suspilne.
Strikes back against deadlock data
Earlier this week, Ukraine’s Commander-in-Chief Valery Zaluzhny came out and said that the war in Ukraine has entered a stalemate in terms of forces, which in the long run could benefit Russia. Zelenskyy denied that claim during the press conference.
– Everyone is getting tired and opinions differ. But we are not at a standstill.
At the same time, Zelenskyy admitted that difficulties have been encountered and that Ukraine needs even more military support from the Western powers.
von der Leyen on a surprise visit to Kyiv
The President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, made an unannounced visit to the Ukrainian capital, Kiev, on Saturday. There she met Zelensky to discuss, among other things, Ukraine’s path towards EU membership and how the EU should continue to help Ukraine.
The Kiev visit is von der Leyen’s sixth since Russia invaded Ukraine last February.
