Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said in a televised interview with Britain’s Channel 4 News that the former US president would be welcome to visit him in the capital – as long as Trump can stop the war with Russia within 24 hours. Something he once promised.
– Please, Donald Trump. I invite you to Ukraine, to Kiev, says Zelensky in the interview, adding:
– If you can stop the war for 24 hours.
Trump: Can stop the war in Ukraine
Trump has previously said he could end the war immediately if he were president. He insists he has a good relationship with both parties and could therefore persuade Russian President Vladimir Putin to agree to a settlement.
Zelenskyy, however, believes that he wants to know what Trump’s “formula” is and how it should be done.
– Who knows, maybe Donald Trump has a real idea?, says the President of Ukraine in the interview.
Zelenskyy: “Very dangerous”
The president also adds that Trump’s rhetoric is “very dangerous” because there are risks that Trump’s idea will not be to the liking of the Ukrainians. According to him, there may be risks that Trump still pushes through the plan, which Zelenskyj admits he thinks is “a little scary”.
Ukraine is keen to have a strong bond with the Republican predecessor. Not least before the American presidential election in November. Zelenskyy admits this in the interview and emphasizes that Ukraine would not survive without US support.
