Zelda will be given new life at the cinema

The gaming giant Nintendo is to make a film of the popular adventure game where the characters have moved in the land of Hyrule since its launch in 1986.

Nintendo has gotten a taste for squeezing more revenue out of games by turning them into movies after the success of the Mario movie earlier this year. The Japanese game company will make the film version of Zelda in collaboration with Sony.

The plan is for Wes Ball to direct and for Avid Arad, who has been behind several Spiderman films, to co-produce Nintendo’s game creator Shigeru Miyamoto.

There is no word on when it might premiere. Miyamoto writes, in a post on social media, that it will take time.
