Zelda Breath of the Wild 2: release date postponed for the second part

Zelda Breath of the Wild 2 release date postponed for

It is a very bad news which arrives on the Nintendo planet this week. Breath of The Wild 2, the sequel to one of Nintendo Switch’s biggest hits, has seen its release pushed back to next year.

[Mis à jour le 30 mars 2021 à 16h09] This is news that, let’s face it, half surprises us at the start of 2022. The sequel to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, summarily named Breath of the Wild 2, which had been announced for 2022 has finally had its release date pushed back to the spring 2023. Information communicated to us by Eiji Aonuma, the historical producer of the Zelda games license, via Nintendo’s Twitter account. In this video, Aonuma communicates both on the reasons for the delay in the release of the game, the studio claiming to want to take the time necessary to develop this second part well, and on the content of the game. good news, given the quality of Breath of the Wild, out of the question that its sequel is not up to par. Recent examples of games released too soon (Cyberpunk 2077 and Battlefield 2042) have finished cooling the ardor of impatient fans.

Fortunately, as Eiji Aonuma said so well, the world of Breath of the Wild 2 has many surprises in store for us. As this trailer shows, which blew up the internet a few months ago, this second part takes us back to the lands of Hyrule, but not only. The player will have the opportunity to discover many secrets in addition to the skies of this fabulous world, which will become an essential part of the exploration of this next release. We will also find new gameplay mechanics, such as the announcement of Aonuma, as well as new objects to collect everywhere in this open world.

For the moment, very little has been revealed about the exact content of the game. But these few images already allow us to understand certain essential aspects of Breath of the Wild 2 (name not confirmed, we remind you). In terms of history, we already know that Breath of The Wild 2 will pick up Link’s story where the first opus left off. The knight’s mission will be to defeat the scourge “Ganon” once again, and to find his friend Zelda from whom he seems once again separated. On the gameplay side, we could see in the trailer several things that tipped us off. First, at the level of the world in which the game will be located. The plains and the Hyrule no longer seem to be the only universe to explore. Indeed the kingdoms of heaven seem once again accessible, which reminds us of the universe of The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword. Link will be able to vertically traverse flying platforms, and explore Hyrule using various modes of transportation, including through the skies. The Cinetis power is back, except that it will no longer be a question of freezing objects in time, but of sending them back to the past. We can also note the appearance of a flamethrower.

A little over 1000 days after the announcement of its existence, Breath of The Wild 2 has therefore seen its release date pushed back to spring 2023. An announcement that lacks precision, but which will also allow the studio to take the time necessary to create a quality product. It is true that spring 2023 is quite far and vague, but it is already a date. In addition, we can note that the game is announced on Nintendo Switch. Nintendo therefore maintains silence about the Nintendo Switch Pro, and it will therefore be necessary to wait before knowing more about a possible next console to take over from the venerable Nintendo Switch.
