There has been a friendship between Zeist and Berkane for 19 years. About 3500 people with a Moroccan background live in Zeist and many of them have their roots in the region where Berkane is located. “We think it is important to understand their culture and background as well as possible and to show interest in the living, living and working of the people there,” says Janssen. “That can be helpful in our contacts with the Moroccan community here.”
