Yves Saint Laurent, art from every angle

Yves Saint Laurent art from every angle

Until May 15, six Parisian museums are opening their permanent collections to clothing designed by Yves Saint Laurent. The opportunity to rediscover his creations in the light of all the forms of art that will have enlightened and inspired his vision of Haute-Couture.

“My art is the way I look at my time and the art of my time” said Yves Saint-Laurent. It’s a bit like this sentence that the exhibition to be discovered today illustrates.

A somewhat special exhibition, since it extends over six different places, six of the most prestigious museums in Paris: the Center Georges Pompidou, the Museum of Modern Art of the City of Paris, the Louvre, the Museum of Orsay, the Picasso Museum and of course the Yves Saint-Laurent Museum.

Aurelie Samuel is the director of the collections of the latter and she presents with Mouna Mekouar, co-general curator of this multi-site exhibition. The opportunity to rediscover the first couturier who was exhibited during his lifetime in a museum of fine arts, in this case the Metropolitan Museum of New York in 1983.

“Yves Saint-Laurent at the museums” is an event to visit in Paris until May 15.
