The Russian opposition leader who died last week To Alexei Navalny widow Yulia Navalnaya plans to continue her husband’s work. Navalny announced his intentions in a video published on Navalny’s YouTube channel.
In the video, he blames the president Vladimir Putin about her husband’s death.
– Putin killed half of me, half of my heart and half of my soul. But I still have another half that tells me not to give up, says Navalnaya.
Navalnaya claims that Navanyi’s team will publish detailed information about the death of the opposition leader and the killers in the near future.
– We tell the names and show the faces, Navalnaya says.
In the video, Navalnaya tries to appeal to opposition-minded Russians to continue their struggle to overthrow Putin’s regime.
– I ask you to share with me the rage and anger towards those who dared to kill our future.
– Fight, don’t give up, I’m not afraid, don’t be afraid of anything, Navalnaya says in the video.
Researcher: a tactically and strategically wise decision
Based on the video, Navalnaya appears to be the leader of the aspiring opposition.
She previously appeared alongside her husband at demonstrations and court hearings, but has not taken a role in the political activities of Navalny’s movement.
A researcher at the Foreign Policy Institute, with a Russian background Margarita Zavadskaya according to Yulia Navalnaya made a significant decision.
– It is hard to imagine how much strength and endurance he needs to make such a decision.
According to Zavadskaya, the unification and persistence of the Russian opposition is now crucially important.
– Julia Navalnaya’s bold decision to take the leadership of the opposition is both tactically and strategically wise.
Zavadskaya says that Navalny’s team must continue to operate so as not to waste the symbolic and moral capital left by Alexei Navalny.
– Of course, there are no guarantees of success, but it is inevitable to continue and send a clear message about who is to blame, says Zavadskaya .
Researcher: The change should come from Russia
Navalnaya himself and most of the leading figures of Navalny’s movement are in exile. On Friday, Yuliya Navalny appeared at the Munich Security Conference just after the news of Navalny’s death had become public.
Zavadskaya emphasizes that all major changes must, however, take place within Russia.
– It is the most important arena. You must not lose those inside Russia. And considering that the administration is closing down, we are losing touch with what is happening in the field.
According to Zavadskaya, Russia’s political regime is now very aggressive.
– It’s really hard for anyone to stand up and be seen there now. In addition, Putin wants to isolate people who think differently. But any dictatorship eventually falls. Nothing is forever.
