A lot can happen in a long acting career. Karl Urban likes some of them first his role as Billy Butcher got really present in The Boys, but he got his first TV role at the age of eight. And that was over 40 years ago now.

Long before The Boys, Karl Urban played a morally questionable character

In addition to Bravo, there is another magazine in the kiosks that pulls the money out of young girls’ pockets every week: Wendy, a horse magazine that quickly became an entire franchise. Including comics, books, video games, bedding – and a TV show of the same name. However, it was filmed in New Zealand.
Wendy Thorsteeg (Marama Jackson) lives on her parents’ stud farm, rides her horses Penny and Miss Dixie (successfully, of course) in tournaments, rescues animals and, together with her best friend Bianca and her beastly cousin Vanessa, goes through what you do as a teenager going through. Including heartbreak. This is where Jerry Kiesemann comes into play, the son of the enemy neighbor. And guess who plays the declared bad boy of the horse farm scene? Exactly, Karl Urban.

Jerry Kiesemann is introduced as the antagonist. He wears a rebellious leather jacket, rides a motorcycle and makes fun of Wendy’s relationship with the boring Stefan. He is also her biggest competitor at horse shows. But little by little it turns out that there is actually a soft core under the hard shell. Also Jerry Kiesemann wants to be loved and keeps doing things that are quite unselfish. Like butchers. Sometimes, at least.

At first glance, Wendy might sound like a shallow children’s show for horse girls. In fact, many of the themes of the series are very mature. It’s about eating disorders and environmental pollution, animal cruelty and local politics, lots of love drama and betrayal. So seen is Wendy the perfect mixture of GZSZ, Gossip Girl, 90s nostalgia and riding stable romance. And of course the inimitably cool Karl Urban.
