An American YouTuber Addison Pierre Maalouf, known as “YourFellowArab”, and his colleague have been kidnapped in Haiti. Maalouf traveled to the country hoping to interview the G9 Family gang leader, Jimmy “Barbecue” Chérizier.
The kidnapping took place less than a day after his arrival in the country by a gang known as 400 Mawozo. The gang demands roughly SEK 5,700,000 in ransom.
Advises against travel to the country
Maalouf’s friends have criticized the US State Department for being aloof and not doing more to help him. The US State Department advises against travel to Haiti and writes on its website that kidnappings of American citizens are common in the country.
