YouTube’s answer to TikTok, YouTube Shorts goes beyond a hub for sub-60-second clips on the internet’s top video platform. With billions of monthly login views, it has become a major platform for creators building entire audiences through short-form videos. Of course, YouTube Shorts has emerged as a strong rival to TikTok by incorporating some of its ideas. YouTube Shorts introduced features like Collab last year to further increase competition, and now it’s beefing up the experience by allowing users to remix music videos.
YouTube Shorts is being updated with new features
YouTube announced a number of new music remix options for Shorts in a blog post. You can now change different settings on a full-length music video to create your own unique creation. To dive into this, simply navigate to the music video you want to remix into a short video, tap the Remix button, and choose one of the four tools.
You can showcase your music video side by side with your own video using the Collab tool. Imagine doing some choreographed moves for a music video while the same video plays alongside your short video. The audio tool does exactly what it sounds like. It takes audio from a music video and uses it in your own short video. It’s the kind of thing that’s a big hit on TikTok, where users love to lip-sync to different audio clips. This tool works with almost any music video and most songs that are automatically uploaded to the platform.
