The 17-year-old American Darren “IShowSpeed” Watkins is a red-hot gaming star on YouTube, but he always causes scandals. Now he has spoken to famous footballers in a live stream on YouTube: he shared Alphonso Davies’ private phone number: He plays left-back at Bayern Munich and has an estimated market value of 70 million euros. Just seconds after the leak, Davies’ phone exploded with a barrage of messages and calls, Davies, 21, told Twitch.
Was that IShowSpeed’s plan? In a stream from 22.10. Apparently, IShowspeed had set out to make calls to professional soccer players.
So he asked football professional Jesse Lingard from Nottingham Forest via Instagram for his phone number, which he also freely gave out. And then IShowSpeed Facetimed Jesse Lingard. So far so good.
IShowSpeed wanted to do the same with Alphonso Davies, Bayern’s star defender. The 21-year-old Canadian footballer Davies has already played 15 times for Bayern this year. Its market value is an estimated $70 million.
When calling, Davies’ phone number is immediately visible
This went wrong: So IShowSpeed asked for Davies’ home phone number on Instagram and got it:
How did IShowSpeed react? He quickly noticed what had happened and hurriedly switched off, but the number had already been visible for a few seconds.
IShowSpeed told Davies he was sorry – grabbed his hair and said, “God bless America, I’m sorry.” Davies answered, his phone glitching and hung up.
IShowSpeed the situation was visibly uncomfortable. He swore on God, his father, and on his life that the phone number was accidentally leaked. He didn’t intend that at all.
According to IShowSpeed, it was because Alphonso Davies had his camera off, so the number was showing.

How does Davies react? A short time later a video of Davies appeared saying:
Guys as you know speed leaked my phone number it’s ok bro. We live and we learn.
He then reveals that he appears to be using a different, new phone.
Davies explains: His phone completely freaked out
Here’s how Davies saw the incident afterwards: Alphonso Davies has a Twitch channel with 345,000 followers as “Thatboydavies19” – but he is not online there all too often.
In a Twitch stream on Sunday, Alphonso Davies addressed the incident (via twitch): Davies said at first he didn’t understand why Speed called him “Anthony” Davies, but he could overlook that. Speed told him he’s been watching Davies since he was 9 and would like to Face-Time him.
Davies replied: “Yes, I will – but promise not to leak my number.” Speed promised quickly.
Davies had answered the phone call from IShowSpeed in his car and due to technical difficulties with the connection, the phone number was not displayed, but rather the phone number. When IShowSpeed immediately started apologizing, the madness started just seconds later:
“He started apologizing: ‘Bro, I’m sorry’ – I asked: ‘What’s happening?’ – And literally 3 seconds later my phone went nuts: calls, messages, Facetime what’s app messages, what’s app calls, this and that.”
Davies says it was probably both of their faults in the end, he should have turned off Car Play, but IShowSpeed also promised him he’d saved Davies’ number – so it was probably 50/50.
Davies sees the blame equally divided between the two.
Alphonso Davies himself steams on Twitch, albeit rarely. Of course, he shows the most: FIFA
“We both do stupid things all the time”
Anyway, now the whole world has its number, says Davies. But everything is okay. He’s not mad at him.
IShowSpeed is young, Davies is young himself. You’re still learning. But Davies saw the clip and IShowSpeed’s eyes when he noticed the error.
Davies apparently sees no bad intentions in the young YouTuber.
Football says such mistakes are part of learning: “We both do stupid things all the time.”
He will get a new number and for him the matter is over.
