According to figures from the VNG, the number of children using youth care has increased rapidly. At the beginning of this century, this concerned 1 in 27 young people under the age of 18. In the transition year 2015, the ratio was already 1 in 10, and currently even 1 in 7.5. Costs also rose, partly due to bureaucracy. In the first four years of the new Youth Act, youth care became 1.9 billion euros more expensive. 1500 new youth care providers were added, but the waiting lists also grew.
