A local youth was arrested and charged in connection to a bomb threat targeting Wallaceburg District Secondary School that was made via social media around 1 pm Friday.
Chatham-Kent police responded and assisted with the evacuation of the school to ensure the safety of students, staff and the public.
When it was determined to be safe to enter the building, police and school staff conducted a detailed search of the school and no explosive materials were found.
Police said through investigation the identity of the suspect who made the threat on social media was quickly determined and a youth was located, arrested and charged.
The youth was released with a future court date.
Police want to assure the public there are no safety concerns.
Wallaceburg man facing impaired charges
A 31-year-old Wallaceburg man is facing impaired charges after Chatham-Kent police responded to a motor vehicle crash on Dufferin Avenue in Wallaceburg around 8 pm Friday.
Through investigation, police determined the driver was impaired and placed the man under arrest.
He was charged with operation while impaired and having a blood-alcohol level exceeding the legal limit and later released with a March 23 court date, police said.
