At the start of Season 17, Destiny 2 gave the keepers 100 extra slots in their own vault. Barely a month later, players’ vaults are already full to capacity again. MeinMMO has a heart for vault messies, godroll hoarders and item nostalgics and tells you how to always manage to have enough space in your vault.
What to do with all the new weapons and armor? In this case, each Guardian in Destiny 2 has their own vault. For a long time only 500 items could be stored in this memory. But then Bungie finally released 100 more slots for you at the start of Season 17.
In the beginning it was wonderful: With the space gained, it was tempting to simply put any new weapon or armor that you really still want to test in the safe at some point, somewhere.
5 weeks after the start of Season 17, one thing is certain: Keepers in Destiny love their things and so the vault messies, godroll hoarders and item nostalgics have long since reached the current maximum limit again. Status: 599 of 600 items.
Why do many Guardians never have room in the Vault? Actually, you don’t need that many things in Destiny 2 at all to play the game. But again, many guardians are permanently at the limit of the safe with 580-599 items. The reasons for this are very different.
So nothing helps: Time to clean up! Here are our 7 tips on how to organize your vault.
Tip 1: Don’t put weapon tests on the long bench
If you get a legendary weapon in Destiny 2, throw it into an area with a lot of enemies at the first opportunity and try it out as soon as possible.
Most of the time you will notice quite quickly whether the weapon suits you in general. For example, if it shoots you too slowly or you lack precision with it, then try other perk combos that you might be able to exchange. If you just throw everything in the vault, you’ll never test them and you’ll eventually forget them.
If you also want to be absolutely sure, you can also check online. Top weapons from each season quickly go viral in Destiny 2, such as the Funnel Net submachine guns or the Calus mini tool. So you can rule out that you don’t plan to disassemble a real piece of jewelry.
Tip 2: Do not store exotic weapons in the safe
Weapon Exotics will also drop in Destiny 2 from time to time. So yellow weapons with special, intrinsic properties.
There is a high tendency to want to keep them. But you don’t have to.
Exotic weapons can be restored at any time: Any exotic weapon you have once obtained can be crafted again and again from the collection. Incidentally, this also applies to various legendary weapons, such as the ritual weapons of the different seasons.
So if you’ve received a weapon once but don’t play it regularly, disassemble it. Only the exo-weapons that you are playing at the time should really be stored here.
If you then need the exotic weapon again at a later date because it is meta again, you can pull it from the collection for some consumables and quickly infuse it with a legendary item close to your power level.
Tip: Do not collect all of the rewards for your reputation rank increases from Weapon Master Banshee-44. You can always have 5-10 lying there over the season. If you then need to quickly infuse a weapon close to your power level, you have a good source there that only gives weapons.
Tip 3: Craft weapons or use those with double perks
Each season has weapon perks that work well and complement your builds. But until recently, the Guardians were also very limited. Since the release of Witch Queen, however, Bungie has created “stealth possibilities” that also help to have more space in the vault, so to speak, combine several options.
Such a weapon is, for example, the Season ritual weapons, such as “Chain of Command”.
You could also earn the submachine gun “The Title” during the Guardian Games 2022. Each torch lit increased the chance of dropping the weapon with two perks in each column. And Xur also already sold the “Stars in the Shadows” pulse rifle with double perk advantages.
Bungie added this handy option in Season 14, where players could get a source of seasonal high-stat gear/ and dual-perk weapons in Purge missions each week.
If you pay attention to this, you can also save yourself a few duplicate weapon versions in the vault. However, it is important here that you also inspect the weapons before you disassemble them, because you do not see these additional options in the first view of the weapon.
Tip 4: Don’t pick up armor below 60 total
Of course, in addition to weapons, Guardians also store armor in the vault. Including exotic and legendary versions.
Unfortunately, it is not as easy to restore exotic armor as it is to weapons if necessary via the collection. If you pull the armor out of the collection again, the overall values are always bad, so this is out of the question. But you can still sort out.
Tip 5: Don’t pick up armor for the looks
There are many different armors in Destiny 2 that you can use to define your Guardian. As a new player you will find tons and so you are tempted to keep armor just for the looks. However, this is also a space eater in your safe that you should save.
Better you earn the materials for Bungie’s transmog system. Once you’ve gotten an armor design, you can put it over any other armor and thus always get the look you want. This also applies to the special luminous armor from the Solstice events.
Where can I get the transmog material from? “synthetic fabric”? Ada-1 offers you special bounties that turn armor into ornaments.
Transmog is finally in Destiny 2 but takes over 24 hours of work per outfit
Tip 6: Get rid of the old memorabilia
Yes, now you have to be strong, because having more space in the safe also means that you should part with your dusty, beloved treasures in the meantime. Even if you’ve got over 35,000 kills on it.
So remove the lock from your “Hammerhead”, from the “21% Delirium”, the “Hermit Spider” or even from your “Klinging Nail” or the “Breakneck” wink at you again and disassemble them.
Season 17 has shown: Bungie always brings you old treasures back, so that the pain of separation is quickly forgotten thanks to recycling. You can also pull some of these weapons out of the collection again if, for example, you would like to use the “Hermit Spider” again in Iron Banner or PvP because of the old days. Because that is still possible because the power level advantages are not active there.
Tip 7: Use third-party cleaning tools
