The rarest mounts in World of Warcraft could lose their value. A first clue has now been found – and everyone is discussing it wildly.
Most of Azeroth’s champions are happy that old rewards are reappearing in the World of Warcraft trading post. But now Blizzard has given an item a value that shakes that view. Because a mount that was only available for a special performance could now become available again – and in doing so the developers could break a fundamental rule.
What was found? In a new hotfix, Blizzard brought fresh items to the World of Warcraft. These include many items that will most likely end up in the trading post on February 1st.
But the hotfix also changed something else internally, as dataminers discovered. The Reins of the Kor’kron Warwolf mount suddenly received a value in Merchant Currency – a whopping 7,899 Merchant Currency.
What kind of mount is this? The Kor’kron Warwolf is a riding wolf used by the elite forces of Garrosh Hellscream during his time as Horde Warlord.
Back in the days of “Mists of Pandaria”, the wolf was only available to players who had achieved the achievement “Ahead of the Time: Garrosh Hellscream”, i.e. defeated the raid boss on normal or higher before patch 6.0 went live.
It is therefore one of the prestige mounts that you have earned through a special achievement.
How likely is that? This is currently being actively discussed in the community. Although Blizzard has announced that it would like to offer “discontinued items” through the trading post, the reins of the Kor’kron Warwolf would set a precedent here. Until now, the only rewards that came back from the trading post were those from the discontinued trading card game or other temporary promotions.
If mounts are also affected that could only be obtained through a very special achievement at a certain point in time – such as completing a raid on high difficulty for the current content – then that could upset fans. After all, these rewards have always been seen as evidence to say: “Look, I played actively back then and was at the top.”
However, since the value of 7,899 dealer currencies is so exorbitantly high, it could simply be an error. In any case, it’s strange that the Kor’kron Warwolf suddenly came with a price tag. Whether it will actually be available through the trading post remains to be seen.
Would you like to see the Kor’kron Wolf come back into play like this? Or would that be unfair to everyone who worked hard to earn it?
WoW is also selling completely different things right now – namely very strong equipment for twinks!
