Your most brutal and darkest story is coming to the

The highly acclaimed Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem forms a direct contrast to the now confirmed Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Last Ronin. The brightly colored animated adventure was a family-friendly popcorn movie for everyone who hasn’t gotten enough of Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse.

The Last Ronin promises exactly the opposite: the comic book is mercilessly dark and it will be a live-action film. As our video editor Yves puts it: What Logan – The Wolverine was for Wolverine, The Last Ronin is for the Turtles.

Yves explains what makes The Last Ronin so special here:

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Last Ronin is coming to film! | Opinion

As a die-hard fan, Yves wasn’t thrilled with the Gen Z turtles from Mutant Mayhem. The Last Ronin film adaptation offers him a great opportunity. Because Turtles creator and author of the comic Kevin Eastman will be writing the script himself.

What is Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Last Ronin about?

The story of The Last Ronin takes place in an alternate dystopian future world where Shredder’s grandchild Oroku Hiroto has seized power. The Ninja Turtles were wiped out except for a single survivor. The eponymous last masterless samurai is now seeking revenge. Which of the four Turtles is hiding behind the iconic masquerade remains a secret until the finale.

The bloodthirsty comic is considered the swan song for the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Similar to Batman of the Future, which Yves also wants to see made into a film, he is designing an independent end-time scenario for a popular comic series. This means that The Last Ronin could join the ranks of more adult comic book films like Logan or Joker and give the Turtles, who are often labeled as children’s stuff, a new face.
