Apple recently updated its list of devices considered obsolete and several MacBooks are on it.
Manufacturers like Apple regularly update their devices. This not only allows them to add new features, but also to correct potential security flaws and bugs that can be dangerous or affect your daily experience.
Apple has just updated its list of devices considered obsolete by the company. This is a set of products that are no longer sold on the brand’s official website, and which will no longer be able to be sent to Apple for official repairs other than a battery replacement. If you have an object considered obsolete by Apple, you will no longer be able to turn to independent repairers in the event of a problem.
Here are the new Macs and MacBooks added to Apple’s obsolete products list:
- MacBook Air (13-inch – 2015)
- MacBook Pro (13-inch – 2016)
- MacBook Pro (13-inch – 2016)
- MacBook Pro (15-inch – 2016)
- MacBook Pro (Retina – 13 inch -2015)
- MacBook (Retina – 12 inch -2016)
- iMac (21.5-inch – 2015)
- iMac (Retina 4K – 21.5 inches – 2015)
- iMac (Retina 5K – 27-inch – 2015)
In addition to these products that are now impossible to repair at a specialized Apple center, the company has added three recent MacBooks to its list of items considered “vintage.” These can still be repaired at Apple, but not for much longer. These are the following computers:
- MacBook Air (Retina- 13-inch – 2018)
- MacBook Pro (13-inch – 2017)
- MacBook Pro (13-inch – 2018)
We strongly advise you, if you have one of these devices, to take it for a quick check-up at an official Apple store while there is still time.
