Sailor Moon is back and is one of the most popular anime in the magical girl genre. This summer you can watch the two-part finale, Sailor Moon Cosmos, on Netflix. MeinMMO tells you the details.
Anime fans around the world can look forward to a magical comeback, as Sailor Moon, the iconic heroine of many childhoods, returns with new adventures. Netflix has officially announced (via X) that both parts of Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon Cosmos: The Movie will be available worldwide on the streaming platform from August 22, 2024. These two films were already shown in Japan last year and are now finally coming to us, albeit belatedly.
Unfortunately, there is no German trailer for Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon Cosmos yet. However, you can watch the official Japanese trailer for the first part here:

What will the films be about? The Sailor Moon Cosmos films continue the legendary story that began with the rebooted Sailor Moon Crystal series (3 seasons in total) and continued with films. The story closely follows the original plot of Naoko Takeuchi’s manga and offers fans an in-depth narrative of the Sailor Senshi’s adventures.
Sailor Moon Cosmos specifically adapts the final battle of the Shadow Galactica story arc from the original manga. The films are a direct sequel to the 2021 two-parter Sailor Moon Eternal.
Sailor Moon Cosmos brings back popular characters, but also new ones, such as Sailor Starlights, who are only known to manga readers. The two films will tell the long-running story in full – maybe this really is their last adventure?
What else is known? The film is directed by Tomoya Takahashi, known for his work on the Marvel anime. The scripts are by Kazuyuku Fudeyasu and the character design is by Kazuko Tadano, who has previously designed the Sailor Moon adaptations. The music is by Yasuharu Takanashi, who also composed for Naruto Shippuuden. Did you know? The American version of Sailor Moon was so awful that it was canceled after one episode
