The study was carried out on a total of 1,629 people spread out in the USA, China, Mexico and Germany – and in the survey, the participants were asked to rate their taste preferences, while also examining their personality traits.

The results were the same in all countries, and showed, among other things, that people who prefer sweets tend to be friendlier and have an easier time getting along with others.

According to the study, there is a lower correlation between people with low friendliness and sweet tastes. The researchers believe that people have a tendency to connect their taste preferences to certain emotional or social meanings – which may explain why we call nice people “cute”.

Previous studies have also shown the same result – that those who prefer sweet things often have friendly personality traits, but this is the first time that the study has been carried out in several different countries.
