The first crime took place on Tuesday last week. A man in his 65s is said to have arranged a meeting with a person on Aborrberget in Strängnäs, but when he arrived at the scene at around 10 pm, he was met by several people. The perpetrators are said to have forced the man’s bank card and made him transfer money via Swish.
The next day, a similar incident occurred at Malmby airfield, but the victim, a man in his 40s, managed to escape in his car before the perpetrators came across something. He was beaten and according to the prosecutor, it is unclear whether the man needed to seek care.
On Friday the same week, a third person, a man in his 50s, was beaten by several perpetrators in Löt. Here, too, the robbery was not completed when the man managed to escape.
There may be perpetrators under 15 years
Earlier this week, three people were arrested on suspicion of involvement in the events. Two of them were released but they are still suspected and yesterday the third person, a man in his 18s, was arrested on suspicion of probable cause for robbery.
– These perpetrators that we suspect are young people, from 15 years and up. There are additional suspects. In total, we believe that they were more than five and it can not be ruled out that there are people under the age of 15 who are involved in this, says prosecutor Nicklas Hjertonsson.
“Good opportunities to find out what has happened”
All suspects are young men from the Strängnäs area. The detainee is already known to the police but has not been convicted of any crime. One of those released has previously been convicted of, among other things, vandalism.
– There are people who are at large and therefore we do not share all the evidence we have. But we have good opportunities to find out what has happened on the various occasions, says Nicklas Hjertonsson.
