Young men most violated by data collection

Young men are reluctant to share what they do online. This is shown in the report “The Swedes and the Internet 2023” from the Internet Foundation.

According to the report, 69 percent of all men born in the 90s and 00s feel that their privacy is violated by personal data being collected from their internet use, reports P3 Nyheter.

This can be compared to the fact that only 47 percent of women of the same age feel violated by data collection.

One of the reasons could be porn surfing, says Måns Jonasson at the Internet Foundation.

– It is much more common for young men to surf porn and it is conceivable that it is connected. That you have parts of online activities that you simply think are more sensitive and do not want to be monitored. Then we also know that young men are more generally knowledgeable about technology and perhaps have an easier time understanding the possibilities surrounding these surveillance possibilities and what it can actually lead to, says Måns Jonasson to P3 Nyheter.

The women are more worried that nude photos will be leaked or that private data will end up with the wrong person. They are also worried about stalkers and that information about one’s whereabouts could end up in the wrong hands.
