At around 03.30 the police were called to a popular pub street after several people heard loud bangs in the area. When the police arrived at the scene, they found a man with a gunshot wound.

“One or more perpetrators”
The man was taken to hospital with serious injuries, but his life could not be saved. Two more men were injured in the shooting. The injuries are not considered life-threatening.
– There were a lot of people on the move at the time, it’s a street in central Gävle where several premises were open, says Mathias Rutegårdpress spokesperson at the police in region Mitt, to TT.
No one has been detained or arrested in connection with the shooting. The police are working at the scene with a large effort and several people are believed to have witnessed the incident.
– We have cordoned off the suspected crime scene to secure any findings. We also hear witnesses, there are several people who saw and heard the incident, and then we conduct a technical investigation, says Rutegård.
“He is dead!”
Aftonbladet has spoken to a resident in the area who slept with an open window. The woman woke up hearing screams from the street.
– They shouted and ran, it sounded like a big gang. Then I heard three sharp shots and after that there was a lot of screaming, the woman tells the newspaper.
After the shots, even more screaming and running was heard.
– Then I hear someone just shout: ‘He’s dead!’ It was so uncomfortable.
