At 18.38 the police were called to a fight between two people outside in central Strängnäs. One of the people suffered serious injuries after being cut in the throat with a sharp object, according to police.
According to information to TV4 Nyheterna, the person must have been stabbed in the throat with a knife.
Later, the police announced that the man died from his injuries. Relatives have been notified. The man is in his 20s, according to information from TV4 Nyheterna.
Preliminary investigation into murder
At the scene, the police were able to arrest a suspected perpetrator in his 30s. The police have established a preliminary investigation into murder and the scene has been cordoned off during the evening.
– We have obtained information from witnesses and carried out other investigative measures. We have also secured items that can be linked to the crime, said police spokesperson Marcus Anefur earlier in the evening.
It is unclear what caused the altercation.
– It is a serious crime that has taken place and for that reason we have to strictly maintain the secrecy of the preliminary investigation, says the police.
