You’ll miss 3 important things in Baldur’s Gate if you don’t get enough sleep

Baldur’s Gate 3 offers tons of stories with different endings and probably no one has really discovered everything yet. However, many players may have missed parts of their companions’ stories, at least in the first run – because the game puts too much pressure on you.

This is why you should rest often enough:

  • A long rest completely replenishes your life points and spell slots. So you’ll be completely recovered afterwards. Many magic classes in particular need the rest in order to be operational again.
  • Even more important, at least for the story: during a long rest, cutscenes are played, which in most cases advance the stories of your existing companions.
  • Certain quests also only continue after a rest because this ends the day. The game forces you to rest in a few places, but not often enough to see every cutscene.
  • This is why many players miss the stories: The problem with Baldur’s Gate 3 is that the game essentially lies to you. Information says that you only have a few days to get rid of the mind flayer larva. But that’s not correct.

Even your companions like to put pressure on you. Lae’zel can’t wait to find her crib and would like to be there yesterday. It actually disappears at some point if you wait too long. You can also find Shadowheart in another place if you rest before meeting her on the beach.

Otherwise you can rest as long as you want. This has no effect on the larva. New players in particular fall for it again and again and avoid a long rest for as long as possible. This limits gameplay as well as story.

Another point: There are certain quests that can fail if you wait too long. But the game doesn’t tell you what they are. Because of the fear of missing something, many players decide not to take a break – and therefore miss something.

In a thread on Reddit, a user actually just posted a meme about how much you have to eat when you rest for the cutscenes in sequence. However, there are tons of useful tips underneath.

If you just want to restore life points, it’s better to use the short rest. It neither consumes supplies nor advances time:

“If you rest one after the other, take a partial rest.”

Now after Christmas, many players have started playing Baldur’s Gate 3 or have finished their first playthrough. In the second attempt they really want to take all the stories with them. They say: if you play for too long at a time, you may have to stop 5 or 6 times in a row to see all the cutscenes.

This will go into stocks quickly. The tip: Take a partial rest. It doesn’t use up any supplies and also advances the story because time still passes. If you still want to consume food, be careful not to accidentally eat your cute companion.

You should only be careful with the corresponding quests, which can fail if you rest. Our list will help you get an overview of where you are actually under time pressure. In general, however, the game never fails just because you have just rested.

But there is also something good about it. For some players, what they missed is a reason to simply play Baldur’s Gate 3 again. There is always so much to discover that 3 or 4 passes are worth it. The fact that the game is so captivating is not just due to its sheer scope. One of the bosses recently revealed that humor is particularly important for success.
