Medical Oncology Specialist Prof.Dr. Uğur Coşkun reported that a study was published recently by Micheal Orlich et al., examining the consumption of milk and dairy products in terms of prostate cancer risk. In this study published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, Coşkun stated that the risk of prostate cancer is higher in men who consume more dairy products, especially milk, compared to those who consume less. prof. Dr. Uğur Coşkun gave the following information about the research:
“In an analysis of 28,000 men who did not have cancer at baseline, men who consumed about 2 cups, or 430 grams, of milk or dairy products per day had a 25 percent higher risk of prostate cancer than those who consumed half a glass of milk or dairy products per week (about 20 grams per day). In the same study, it was found that calcium from sources other than dairy products, such as nuts, cruciferous vegetables, and other green vegetables, did not increase the risk of prostate cancer. Accordingly, it is said that the effect of milk and dairy products that increase the risk of prostate cancer may not be due to calcium, but to other factors in dairy products.

Especially in men who are thought to be at high risk of prostate cancer, milk and dairy products may be restricted. In these people, oat, soy and similar dairy products can be used for supplementation with the recommendations of a dietitian.
