Jonna Sundling had a great season last year.
But now she is missing until the start of the new season.
“You won’t see me on the starting line,” writes the Olympic gold hero on Instagram and explains why.
Last season was a great success for Jonna Sundling who followed up double WC gold in 2021 by winning gold, silver and bronze at the 2022 Olympics in Beijing. The 27-year-old was therefore one of the top Swedish skiers last season.
Sundling’s success
The success at the Olympics has also contributed to the sprint specialist being nominated for the Sports Gala in the category “Female Athlete of the Year”, together with Sarah Sjostrom, Sarah Hector and Sandra Näslund.
“A small shot of joy in honor of the day. Being nominated for female athlete of the year feels incredibly honorable and so fantastically fun. Above all, to be one of four among such strong girls!”, writes Sundling on Instagram about the nomination.

But in the midst of the joy, there is also much sadder news for Jonna Sundling. It is clear that the Swede will miss the season premiere in Bruksvallarna next weekend.

Jonna’s honest words
Sundling explains in his own words what has happened on his own Instagram.
“I’ve had a good summer and autumn, but on the other hand I’ve just now come down with a very stubborn cold that refuses to let go of me. So you won’t see me on the start line in Bruksvallarna at the premiere. Of course very boring. But I promise to come back as soon as I can!”, she writes to a picture, see it below, which has received over 8,000 likes.
