Experts warn about healthy eating to prevent diseases. Diet drinks that are thought to be healthier affect health negatively. Artificial sweeteners used increase the risk of stroke and dementia. Researchers at Boston University announced that those who consume artificially sweetened beverages are three times more likely to suffer from stroke and dementia.

CONSUMING REGULARLY INCREASE YOUR RISKS OF DISEASE THREE TIMES

Researchers studied the soda drinking tendencies of nearly 3,000 adults and found some surprising data on diet soda consumption. Looking at strokes older than 45 and dementia over 60, they found that regularly drinking diet soda nearly triples your risk of developing a stroke or dementia. This risk remained true even after considering other risk factors such as overeating, diet quality, exercise levels, and smoking.

Boston University has shown the first link between diet drinks and dementia, but there’s a long list of medical researchers linking artificially sweetened beverages to a host of other health problems:

Depression: Drinking 4+ cans a day is linked to a 30 percent higher risk of depression.

Kidney damage: Long-term diet drink drinking is linked to a 30 percent reduction in kidney function.

Type 2 Diabetes and Metabolic Syndrome: Drinking diet drinks daily increases your risk of metabolic syndrome by 36 percent. Compared to regular soda drinkers, it increases your risk of type 2 diabetes by 67 percent.

DRINK TEA INSTEAD OF ARTIFICIAL BEVERAGES REDUCES YOUR RISK OF ALZHEIMER

  • Drinking diet drinks regularly triples your risk of stroke and dementia.
  • Drinking one diet beverage a day shrinks your brain volume.
  • Regularly drinking sugary drinks actually shrinks the size of your hippocampus, accelerates brain aging and causes poorer memory. These are all risk factors for early-stage Alzheimer’s.
  • Instead of drinking diet or regular soda, try tea. It can reduce your risk of Alzheimer’s by up to 86 percent.
