Ahead of the week when many Swedes celebrate autumn holidays, SMHI has flagged snow, wind, icy conditions, rain and occasional sunny weather.
– It is generally variable weather with a bit on the milder side in the south and a colder period in the north, said Sofia Söderbergmeteorologist at SMHI, and adds that there may also be some sun, in an interview with TT from earlier this week.
Now it looks much more dramatic, according to SMHI’s updated forecast.

SMHI warns: Do not go out tonight
The institute has issued an orange weather warning on the Lapland Mountains. The reason is that strong winds and snow flurries are predicted.
The winds are expected to reach storm force and according to SMHI, it can be difficult to move and move at all when the weather changes.
– It will be difficult. I would absolutely say it is dangerous. You shouldn’t go out on the mountain in this kind of weather, says the TV4 meteorologist Ingrid Eronnto TV4 Nyheterna.
At the same time, Eronn flags that there is a risk of frostbite.
The warning applies from 21:00 on Tuesday evening until 09:00 on Wednesday morning.

The Lapland mountains are not the only area that has been affected by stormy weather. In some parts of Norrbotten’s interior, from Jokkmokk up to Kiruna, SMHI has issued a yellow warning. Very strong winds are predicted there, which can carry away loose objects and create problems in traffic.
Residents are therefore asked to secure loose objects and prepare for traffic delays.

The precipitation expected in the east will ease as the winds dissipate, according to SMHI. Therefore, the yellow warning does not apply to snow.
– It will be windy along the entire coastal strip, but the storm will pass rather quickly and during tomorrow, behind this, it will break up. Tomorrow it will be sunny in a large part of the country, says Ingrid Eronn TV4 News.
