You should visit The Veilguard regularly, otherwise you will miss an important part of the game

The lighthouse in Dragon Age: The Veilguard is a central location in the story. In this article we explain why you shouldn’t ignore it outside of the main story.

Spoiler alert: In the article we reveal what the lighthouse is and what you can find there. If you don’t want to know anything about it, skip the following.

What is the lighthouse? After the prologue of The Veilguard you end up in a marked out area called “The Lighthouse”. It quickly becomes clear that this is the hub of the game. In other words: It is the basis of the group.

The character Rook himself, but also all his companions, have their own room where they keep their belongings and which they can decorate according to their own preferences. From the lighthouse you often set off on quests or discuss things with your group.

But if you rarely take a break and return there, you will miss some important moments in the game.

There is also an important puzzle waiting for you in the lighthouse – you can see our video guide here:

Get up close and personal with your companions

What is there to miss? The lighthouse is where the group spends their quiet moments away from combat, exploration and dramatic story climaxes. Therefore, the companions have a lot to think about. Luckily, they are also very communicative towards Rook and are happy if you listen to them.

If you take a look at your map in the lighthouse, you will see the symbols of your companions. They provide information about where the characters are and whether they want to talk to you. The game differentiates between three categories:

  • Time-critical conversations: You can recognize them by a gray speech bubble. Take note of them and get to know your companions better. However, these conversations disappear after a while if you don’t take advantage of the opportunity.
  • Important conversations: A yellow speech bubble indicates that a companion has something important to tell you. This allows you to have a direct influence on your companion’s personal story – for example, to persuade or encourage them to do something.
  • Quests: You can recognize new tasks by the exclamation mark. If you want to experience each companion’s personal journey, you should accept these quests and play them in order.
  • Companion quest and all the other conversations are optional. You don’t have to complete them to complete the game. But let’s be honest: If you ignore this additional content, you’ll miss a large part of the game.

If you complete the companions’ quests, you get to know them better and build a connection with them – which can even lead to a romance.

How often should you go to the lighthouse? If you are unsure how often you should visit the hub, you would be well advised to do so briefly after each quest. With a quick look at the map you can see whether there are new conversations or tasks.

Real role-players would anyway return to the safe shelter after completing a quest and gather their strength again before continuing. Strengthened, you can then set off on new adventures. If you need further assistance, please take a look at MeinMMO: Dragon Age: The Veilguard – All Guides
