One of the pieces of advice is to have a lot of cash at home in case the electricity goes out and payment cards stop working. The cash should preferably be in different denominations and last for a week.

Cash at home? Yes, but not too much
Having cash at home is a way of “preparing”, but you must not have too much at home. Nyheter24 has previously reported on when Moa Langemark at the Financial Supervisory Authority gave advice on exactly how much money one should have at home.

– If you want to hide your things in the home, you have to be really creative, it’s that simple. It is not enough to keep them in the back of the closet, in the freezer or in the laundry basket. The thieves look there too, she says in an interview with Dagens Nyheter.

The absolute best way to protect valuables from thieves is to have them locked in a certified safe, says Nilsson. But far from everyone has an old safe lying around at home.

The expert’s tip: Talk to the neighbors
Lina Nilsson instead recommends the Neighbor Cooperation method to keep burglars away.
