Jennie has also run her restaurant “Namu” in Malmö since 2015. In 2017, the restaurant received an award in Guide Michelin, a so-called Bib Gourmand. The award means that the restaurant serves well-prepared food at an affordable price.
She also gave her first summer talk in the summer of 2024, where she talked a lot about her upbringing.
In an interview with Sveriges Radio, Jennie Walldén shared her best tricks when it comes to cooking rice.

You have to think about that when you cook rice
She also tells you what you should never do when cooking rice. The first thing to think about is washing the rice thoroughly.
– You don’t wash because it’s dirty, but to wash away rice starch, she tells Sveriges Radio.
When you wash the rice, the water will become cloudy, it is the starch that you want to get rid of.
You can then strain off the water and repeat the process until the rice is completely washed.
Before putting the rinsed rice in the pot you intend to cook it in, it is important that it is allowed to drain properly.
– It is important that it flows, says Jennie. Because otherwise the amount of water is not correct when boiling.

You should never do that when you cook rice
Something you should never do, however, is follow the amount of water stated on the package, then the rice will be too mushy and not airy and dry as you want it.
You should never salt the rice either.
– And don’t add salt to the water, says Jennie Walldén Swedens radio. At least not if you make Asian dishes. The rice should be as neutral as possible.
