Black Friday is around the corner and many people plan to make one or another purchase on the day. Before the sales and offers start to apply, Konsumenternanas is issuing a warning to everyone who plans to buy something during the holiday season.

You shouldn’t buy that on Black Friday – or ever
In a press release from the organization, they make one thing clear: Never buy product insurance.
News24 have talked to Anna-Karin Baltzari Danforshead of Konsumenternas Försäkringsbyrå, about what you shouldn’t buy on Black Friday – and never really.
– Product insurance is unnecessarily expensive, says Baltzari Danfors, and continues:
– We have spoken to consumers who can barely afford home insurance and then it is unnecessary to take out product insurance. Home insurance is much more important.

Therefore, product insurance is completely unnecessary
When buying a new television, mobile phone or other high-value home electronics, it can be tempting to want to have it insured. However, the vast majority have all their stuff already insured, even if they don’t know it.
– It is very important that you know that all-risk insurance is included in all the major home insurance policies.

“Covers all your possessions instead of just one”
An all-risk insurance, or mud insurance as they are also called, compensates for all damages to things and objects you own. Product insurance therefore becomes completely unnecessary for those who already have comprehensive home insurance.
– If you have a smaller home insurance where the all-risk insurance is not included, you can always take out an add-on, which is better than a product insurance because the all-risk insurance covers all your possessions instead of just one, says Baltzari Danfors.
All-risk insurance is mainly found in home insurance, but can also come with certain bank cards. Some bank cards otherwise have an extended warranty.
– What can be positive about product insurance is that they can have a lower deductible.

So you can be protected
Even if you do not have home insurance, you can be insured in other ways. The Consumer Purchase Act and various forms of guarantees can protect if a product is damaged or broken.
“You have the right to complain about original defects on a product for up to three years after the date of purchase. In the first two years, it is also up to the store to prove that the defect did not exist when you bought the product,” writes Konsumenternas about the Consumer Purchase Act in its press release.
Regarding guarantees, the organization writes the following: “The seller may have provided a guarantee that is valid for a certain period of time. If the item breaks within the warranty period, you are either entitled to a new item or to repair.”
