Trade unions FNV and CNV recently indicated that there would be a long-term strike in regional transport if the Public Transport Employers Association (VWOV) did not respond to an ultimatum set by the trade unions. That expired on Monday, January 30 at noon. The unions demanded a new collective agreement with a wage increase in line with inflation and less work pressure for the staff. The employers have not responded to the ultimatum, so the new strike in regional transport will continue. “The drivers can now do nothing but strike to make themselves heard. They prefer not to do that, they prefer to transport their passengers. The fact that they do it anyway says how serious the situation is,” said the FNV.
